How far can a car with its leaking fuel tank go? Not as far as it was designed to go, right? And even shorter its travel would be when it has multiple tank holes. We all work similarly. The car's fuel is a metaphor for our energy that we leak out on things we do not plan for. When we leak out our energy on unplanned or unyielding things, we let go of our chances of arriving at desired destinations. Others zip past us while we watch them go, and our hearts sink.

Have you seen people fighting verbally or physically on a train or a bus?

More often than not, if you observe closely (including if you were unknowingly part of it), most altercations happen over perceived violation of someone's ego. Result- Both parties are involved in a fight that helps neither. Additionally, both feel bad and mentally disturbed (if physically unharmed) for a few days, if not weeks. Lesson: Do not let your ego be your enemy; it will only harm you. Remember- ego, only coupled with humility, is called self-confidence. Think about how your ego may be working against you while always appearing to be at your side. It is a discreet longing for self-importance from others and yourself. It has always been at play when you raised your hand in a classroom to seek attention (rather than just letting the teacher know that you have the answer), to your last overt or covert tussle with your fellow passengers/co-workers. Sometimes this little three-letter word becomes so monstrous that it ruins careers, eats out relationships and families, and turns humans into monsters.

Since you know how dangerous this ego can become, whenever it tries to take over your consciousness, stop there and take a breath, ask yourself this simple question...is it worth your time? Ask your reflective brain to analyze what you will gain from this, and will pursuing further make the matter any favorable to you? How will a win of an argument with a co-traveler/shopkeeper help you further your goals? You may extrapolate this example with anything you like, and the answer will probably be the same.
